Lighting makes a big difference!

A few weeks back I posted a picture that was taken at Boy Scout Park and was selected to be a 'month' on the ELAPP calendar.  This same photo I submitted to be critiqued by the team running the On1 Plus program (education/training focusing on the On1 Product Suite, Lightroom, Photoshop products).  In listening to the critique that I was provided, I decided to reshoot the image.  As luck would have it, even though it is January here, it's still green and lush in the ferns and the sun was out shining about to set.

The first picture is shown here.

The second picture I took as the sun was getting low in the sky shows a very different picture.  Note that there is also some differences in the growth of the plants and trees, but the lighting makes a very large difference on how the picture looks.

Which one do you prefer?
