Visiting Fort Pierce, Florida with dogs

Our next stop was to visit family in Fort Pierce, Florida – since we didn’t actually camp at this particular stop – this blog post will share the things we did while visiting.

First, those dogs still want adventures – so we checked out a couple of Kota’s favorite places to go for a walk – if you’re curious, Kota is a great Pyrenees and a very loving big boy with tons of white fur!  But Abby and Kota are ‘not friends’ so it presented challenges keeping them separated – we did it – but a bit of working to keep them happy.  Thankfully, they are fine going for walks together.

White City Park

This is a nice walk around the park – it has a boat ramp along with plenty of space to go fishing or have a picnic.  Bathroom facilities are available as well.

It's been raining a lot on the east coast of Florida, so right now there is a bit of standing water in areas that aren't normally underwater.

Manatee Island Bar and Grill

Check out their website for hours as the change some throughout the week.

The dogs enjoyed just laying out on the deck at the outside bar.  Food was good – enjoyed being next to the water.

The waterway is right next to this restaurant.

Savannas Recreation Area

Office Hours: 8am – 5pm

The St. Lucie County Parks & Recreation Department and its staff welcome you to the Savannas Campground and Recreation Area.  The Savannas is open year-round for camping as well as public recreational use 7 days per week.  Public access is available from sunrise to sunset and includes access to fishing, canoe/kayak rentals, the dog park, and walking/biking trails.
